OSRTC bus hits truck in Odisha’s Sambalpur; 8 passengers injured

Sambalpur: Less than a week after tragic bus accident involving an OSRTC bus near Digapahandi in Ganjam district, another state-run carrying passengers met with an accident in Sambalpur district.

At least eight people including driver of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus were injured, of which five were stated to be in critical condition. The critically injured persons have been admitted to the VIMSAR in Burla.

According to reports, the OSRTC bus from Keonjhar to Balangir hit a stationary truck at a bypass road under Jamankira police limits.

Although, the passengers escaped safely, eight sustained injuries in the accident.

On receiving information, the Jamankira police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

The incident occurred less than a week after Ganjam bus tragedy in which 12 people were killed.

Reports said that a private bus returning from Berhampur collided with an OSRTC near Digapahandi in Ganjam district on intervening night of June 25 and 26. All the occupants of the private bus were returning to Khandadeuli after attending a marriage party in Berhampur. The tragedy struck just a few kilometers before their destination.
