Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today held a road show in Odisha’s Cuttack city to canvass for the party for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state.
The road show began from near Samaj office and concluded at Chandini Chowk Square by passing through Gopabandhu Park area, Tinikonia Bagicha, Dargha Bazaar, Nayasadak and Balu Bazaar in the evening.
Flanked by BJP candidate for Cuttack Lok Sabha seat Bhartruhari Mahtab and party nominee for Barabati-Cuttack segment PC Mohapatra, the Home Minister waved at thousands of people congregated along both sides of the road during the road show.
Hundreds of BJP workers, including many women, participated in the road show.
“I participated in this road show after addressing a public meeting in Aska Lok Sabha seat, which falls under BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s home district Ganjam. After observing the enthusiasm among the people, I can only say that the BJP will form the next government in Odisha,” Shah said.
The Union Home Minister also revealed that the BJP is giving more importance to the Assembly polls in Odisha.
“There is BJP Leher (wave) in Odisha. Our party will form government at the Centre and state after the elections,” he added.
The senior BJP leader, however, thanked the BJD supremo for extending issue-based support to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre during the last 10 years.
