Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 vaccination figures crossed 10 lakh mark in Odisha capital yesterday as 10,00,265 persons have received at least one dose of the vaccine (COVAXIN) in the city, as on July 12.

Out of the 10,00,265 persons, 5,43,173 have been inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine. A total of 15,43,438 doses have been administered in the city, so far.

On the other hand, many locals have opposed the recent decision of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) of administering first dose of the vaccine only to the residents of the city.

As per the fresh rule of the civic body, citizens need to produce document indicating their place of residence as Bhubaneswar for receiving the first dose of the vaccine at the vaccination centres in the city.

Those residing in Bhubaneswar as tenants and lacking such documents have been impacted by the new norm of the BMC. Reports of such citizens returning from the vaccination centres without being vaccinated have come to fore.
