Over 100 houses reduced to ashes in fire mishap in Odisha

As many as 110 houses were reduced to ashes after a major fire broke out this afternoon at Badabandha village in Aida panchayat under Athamallik block in Angul district of Odisha.

While property worth several lakhs was gutted in the fire mishap, 14 goats were burnt alive.

However, no lost of human life has been reported.

Four fire tenders from Athamallik, Boudh and Redhakhol fire stations rushed to the spot and were pressed into action to douse the fire.

It took hours to douse the flames.

Local BDO, Tehsildar and senior officials of the district administration rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

“Desolate villagers have been accommodated at school buildings and Anganwadi Centres and efforts are on to provide assistance to the affected families,” said Athamallik Tehsildar Dibyalochan Mahanta.

An assessment would be made soon to ascertain the loss of property in the fire mishap, he added.

Cooked food will be served to affected people for three days, he concluded.

Cause of the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
