Bhawanipatna: Over 130 students from four schools in Lanjigarh block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district today took ill after taking mid day meals (MDM) offered at the schools.

While all of them have been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Biswanathpur, two of them have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here as their condition deteriorated.

According to reports, students from schools at Bandhapari, Luma, Kubari and Dangari villages in Lanjigarh block today fell sick after consuming mid day meals supplied in their schools by a NGO-Manna Trust. The students complained of head reeling and vomiting after consuming the meals.

Initially, school authorities and guardians rushed the kids to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Biswanathpur.

As condition of two girl students and a teacher deteriorated they have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here.

Kalahandi Sub Collector, District Education Officer and local Tehsildar rushed to the CHC at Biswanathpur to inquire about the health condition of the ailing students.
