Over 20 passengers injured after bus overturns near Kalunga in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rourkela: More than 20 people including women and children sustained injuries as a private bus in which they were travelling turned turtle today afternoon at a marketplace near Kalunga Chhak under Brahmani Tarang police limits of Rourkela in Sundargarh district.

According to a source, the four-wheeler with around 40 persons on board was on its way from Rourkela to Kalunga-Balanda in the district when it met with an accident. Driver of the bus (bearing registration number OR-16 C-5145) lost control of the vehicle leading to the road mishap.

Passengers had a close shave and a major mishap could be averted. No fatalities have been reported in the fatal incident. Some locals rescued the injured passengers and immediately admitted them to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for treatment, an eyewitness expressed.

On being informed by locals, Brahmani Tarang police and a team of fire services personnel reached the spot and seized the private bus named ‘Rangoli’ and initiated a probe, which is underway.

The road was cleared and vehicular movement was restored by removing the private bus.
