Over 20 students of coaching institute in Odisha capital test COVID-19 positive

Bhubaneswar: More than 20 students of Allen Coaching Institute at Maitree Vihar in the state capital have contracted COVID-19.

All the infectees have been kept under isolation separately in the hostel of the institute, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the campus to contain further spread of the virus in the area. The BMC also issued the following guidelines:

  • No one shall be allowed to move into or from outside the Allen Coaching Institute and its hostel/mess except authorised person of BMC.
  • All the inhabitants of the hostel/mess shall strictly remain inside. The supply of essentials and medical requirements, if required, will be ensured by the institute authorities.
  • The detected positive cases are to be kept in isolation in separate rooms of a single hostel/mess and be kept in strict observation by the Institute authority. The Institute will make necessary arrangement of food for the positive students in time by adhering to COVID norms. The students, staffs found positive in subsequent tests are to be kept in the same hostel under isolation.
  • The Institute authorities to intimate BMC in case symptoms observed in other students than the detected positive students/staffs for getting them timely tested. Further, if any positive case need medical attention need to be shifted immediately to hospital for which the Institute authorities need to be vigilant and intimate BMC immediately.
