Over 200 cartons of liquor seized in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj, 2 detained

Baripada: Mayurbhanj district police last night seized more than 200 cartons of liquor at Bahalda Bazar while those were being unloaded from a truck and detained two persons in this connection.

“Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the spot and seized around 200-230 cartons of liquor worth Rs 10-15 lakh. Each carton contained around 48-50 liquor bottles. The unloading was going on near a godown owned by Debu Sahu, a liquor trader,” said Birendra Kumar Senapati, Bahalda police station IIC.

While several persons, including the truck driver, fled the spot, two labourers, who were engaged in the unloading work, have been detained for questioning, the official said.
