Over 25 persons taken ill after attending village feast in Odisha’s Balasore

Nilagiri: More than 25 persons were taken ill after reportedly consuming food at a feast in Totapada village under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district on Saturday.

All the victims have been admitted to the Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital (SDH) for treatment.

According to reports, a few number of people had visited residence of Sudam Pradhan at Totapada village under Begunia Gram Panchayat to attend a feast on Friday evening. Less than 24 hours of having food at the feast, over 25 villagers including women and children complained of abdomen pain. The ailing persons rushed to the SDH on Saturday evening in two 108 ambulances and hiring an auto rickshaw for treatment.

On receiving information, Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak and Union Minister Pratap Sarangi’s personal assistant Chandrabindu Das visited the hospital to meet the patients.
