Over half a kilo of brown sugar seized; 2 held in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: In a crackdown against illegal drug trade, the Commissionerate Police seized over half a kg of brown sugar in Tomando area on the outskirts of the Odisha Capital today morning. Also, two persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in drug peddling.

Based on reliable information, the Quick Action Team of the Commissionerate Police and Tamando Police conducted a joint raid at a place in Patasani Dhaba area. During a search, a total 520 grams of brown sugar was seized from two persons namely, Sk. Nasimuddin alias Papu from Jaleswar area and Chittaranjan Routray from Bhubaneswar.

Following the recovery of the contraband item, the two persons were apprehended by the Commissionerate Police.

Also, the cops seized Rs 13,400 cash, two motorcycles and four cell phones from the possession of the two accused.

A case has been registered at Tamando PS with Case No. 01 Dt. 03.01.2021, U/s21(c) NDPS Act. The Tomando Police is investigating the matter.
