Oxygen pipe bursts at Odisha’s SCB hosp, open heart surgery stopped

Cuttack: Open heart surgery at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city has been halted as Oxygen pipe of ICU of its Cardiotherapy department burst last night.

While the critical patients have been shifted to other wards, the Oxygen plant has been closed after the burst. Open heart surgery at the hospital will not be carried out until restoration of the damaged pipe.

The critical patients were being administered Oxygen through cylinders after the mishap. On the other hand, open heart surgery of a 16-year-old girl couldn’t be conducted due to the incident.

Expressing displeasure over the matter, father of the girl met the hospital authorities and urged them to carry out the operation as soon as possible.
