Padampur to get district status in a year: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik

Bargarh: In a major announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said Padampur will get district status within a year.

The CM was addressing a public meeting at Jharabandha during his visit to Padampur Assembly Constituency.

Besides inaugurating various welfare projects in the area, Patnaik also disbursed financial assistance of Rs 1.23 crore to the members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of the region.

“My government has accepted the suggestions given by common people for development. The Paikamal PHC has been converted into a CHC. An amount of Rs 64 crore has been sanctioned for developmental projects in Padampur. It will become a district within one year. I keep my promises. I believe in action, not words,” said Patnaik.

An action committee demanding district status for Padampur had met the CM at his residence in Bhubaneswar in November, last year.

The committee members had said the discussion with Patnaik was fruitful as he gave them assurance to accord district status to Padampur sub-division of Bargarh by December 31, 2023.
