Padma Shri Kamala Pujari unwell, admitted to Koraput district headquarters hospital

Jeypore: Renowned social activist and Padma Shri awardee Kamala Pujari was admitted today to district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jeypore town of Koraput after the elderly woman suffered from severe cold, fever and loose motion and did not respond to medicines.

“Pujari has been suffering from fever for the last two to three days. She had loose motion for three to four times yesterday. A woman health worker from Patraput under Jeypore block brought Pujari to the DHH by an ambulance. Now, Pujari is undergoing treatment,” a doctor treating her said.

Pujari is seriously ill now, the DHH doctor informed.

It is pertinent to mention, Pujari was conferred Padma Shri award for preserving hundreds of indigenous species of paddy. She has also collected several endangered and rare types of crop seeds including paddy, turmeric, til and black cumin etc. She popularised organic farming in Koraput.
