Paediatric cancer facility to come up at Jatni near Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The state government will provide funds for setting up of a paediatric cancer facility and a Dharmshala-cum-guesthouse at Jatni near Odisha capital.

The paediatric cancer facility and the guesthouse will come up on the premises of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Jatni.

This was revealed by a communiqué from Health department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit to the Director of Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai today.

As per the communiqué, the state government will provide Rs 150 crore for construction of the paediatric cancer facility at the hospital and procurement of the required equipment for the facility.

Besides, the state government will construct the Dharmashala-cum-guesthouse at the cancer hospital by spending around Rs 120 crore. The guesthouse will be handed over to the Tata Memorial Centre, said the communiqué.

Notably, the Department of Atomic Energy of the Centre and the Tata Memorial Centre of the Tata Trusts have collaborated for the setting up of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre near the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Jatni.
