The hackers identified themselves as Faisal 1337 defaced the website by posting a Pakistani flag with a message Pakistan Zindabad on the home page.

Besides, the hackers also wrote #Utkal University Hacked ǀ!ǀ Shame On Your Security on the website.

“We have blocked the website temporarily. It will be live after necessary changes in the website. We have filed a complaint with the Cyber Cell of the Crime Branch,” said Utkal University vice-chancellor Ashok Das.

With the incidents of website hacking increasing in the state, the DGP has put the onus of the websites’ security on the respective institutions.

“Every site should have a security. They should have their own security. The institutions are not making the security foolproof thereby leaving scope for the attackers to hack it,” DGP KB Singh said.

It may be recalled that the cyber attackers had hacked the website of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) and Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Chhatrapur.
