Pallavi, born in Perth, Australia, was seen hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.

"From the IPL, where I was my Aussie crazy self to playing a rural sex worker from Punjab, it's been an incredible year as a performer. So I am enjoying experimenting with different characters and surrending to very different scripts," Pallavi said in a statement.

Directed by Srijit Mukherji, "Begum Jaan" also stars Vidya Balan.

Pallavi was last seen on screen in the 2015 film "Hawaizaada", and finds it "rewarding" to work with such a team.

"It was so rewarding to work with a performer as accomplished as Vidya Balan, as well as ensemble of actors and director Srijit Mukherji that are so committed to their craft," she said. (IANS)
