Panchayat Executive Officer caught taking bribe in Cuttack

Cuttack: Vigilance officials today arrested Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Bipin Chandra Mantri of Damapada under Banki Tehsil in Cuttack district for demanding and accepting bribe.

Reportedly, the anti-graft officials caught Bipin red-handed while he was accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from one Santosh Barik at around 9.30 AM. Bipin had demanded the bribe from Santosh to release second phase installment money under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which was sanctioned in favour of the complainant’s mother Sukanti.

Acting on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed today and seized the bribe money. A case has been registered at Cuttack Vigilance police station against the PEO.
