Boudh:  An Indian Pangolian weighing around 12 kg  was rescued by forest officials from a reserve forest in Boudh district last night.  It is suspected that some poachers had kept that the endangered species hidden in the forest for illegal trading.

According to reports, a team of forest officials headed by Boudh Forest Range Officer Asish Kanhar conducted a raid in the forest and rescued the pangolin.

Pangolins are often considered as the world’s most trafficked mammal. Pangolin meat is considered a delicacy in some countries and the scales are used for decorative items and jewellery. They are considered to be at high risk of extinction owing to illegal poaching.
