Pangolin rescued in Angul; 4 arrested

Angul: Forest officials today busted an illegal trafficking of wildlife with rescue of a pangolin and arrest of four persons in Angul district.

The rescued pangolin weighs around 10 kg and its cost is estimated approximately Rs 2 lakh.

The four arrestees were identified as Santosh Mahakud, Kailash Nayak of Patamund village, Gananath Nayak of Tainsira village and Muna Munda of Jagmohanpur village.

According to reports, the accused persons had kept the pangolin at a house near Patamund village under Pallahara block in past two months.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of forest officials raided the house and rescued the mammal.
