Panic in Cuttack after bombing, firing; one injured

Cuttack, Aug 22:

Panic gripped the Millennium City of Odisha after two unidentified assailants exploded a crude bomb and fired three rounds of bullets at busy Bajrakabati Road today.

Sources said the bomb was a low-intensity explosive that left one person injured. He has been admitted to a private hospital in the city.

The injured has been identified as Bijay Kumar Rout, secretary of Malisahi puja committee.

The anti-social elements exploded the bomb and fired three rounds of bullets in the air before fleeing the spot.

The incident took place this morning near a city-based hotel and is said to be the fall-out of past rivalry.

Police personnel, accompanied by the scientific team, reached the spot and began investigating into the incident.
