Paralakhemundi ACF death: Official’s wife breaks silence

Oupada/Bhubaneswar: A day after Abhiram Mohapatra, father of late Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, accused the ACF’s wife, Bidyabharati Panda, and DFO of killing him, Panda today broke her silent. Rubbishing the allegations of the ACF’s father, Bidyabharati said the relationship between her and husband Soumya Ranjan was very close.

Narrating the sequences of the incident on July 12 night, Bidyabharati said when she was playing mobile games Soumya Ranjan was teasing her. Later she went to the kitchen to serve food for dinner. Few minutes later, she came back to the room.

But to her dismay, she found Soumya Ranjan’s shirt caught fire.
Bidyabharati immediately tried to save Soumya Ranjan by taking off his cloth due to which she sustained burn injuries in her hands. Finding no option, she ran to the bathroom to bring water. But she fell in the bathroom after her feet slipped.

She then came out of her house and cried for help. Hearing her screams, neighbours reached the spot and rescued Soumya Ranjan in a critical condition. The ACF was rushed to the SCB hospital and then shifted to Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed on July 13 morning.

Following the mishap, Bidyabharati returned to her parental house at Gaudagaon village under Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj district. Also, she stated her in-laws have been trying to spread rumour that she has lost her metal balance.
