Parallel signal system introduced to decongest traffic in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: In view of heavy traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar especially on Jayadev Vihar-Nandankanan Road, Commissionerate Police has introduced parallel signal system on 12-km long stretch.

The system has been implemented at major traffic posts including Jayadev Vihar, Nalco Square and Damana Square in the city.

The parallel pattern signal will be introduced at Patia Square and KIIT Square on Nandankanan Road in upcoming days, official source said.

As per the system, the vehicles coming from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan and vice versa are being given green signal simultaneously at Nalco Square. If the commuters from these opposite directions want to go straight, will have to wait on central and left lanes till the signal. During the period, the signal will be given to the vehicles moving from Jayadev Vihar towards Sainik School and from Nandankanan towards Kalinga Hospital.

The traffic movement has improved significantly with implementation of the parallel signal system on Jayadev Vihar-Nanadankanan Road, said Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate traffic police has closed the newly opened traffic post at OMFED Square for smooth flow of vehicles on the stretch.
