Parents of Jaga-Kalia appeal to Odisha Govt to return Home

New Delhi: The parents of separated conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia appealed to the State government to return home in Odisha.

The father of Jaga-Kalia Bhuyan Kanhara requested the government for making arrangement to shift the twins from AIIMS in New Delhi to a hospital in Odisha.

As the couple has been staying in the AIIMS New Delhi in the past over a year, they are craving to meet their two other children, who are at Milipada village in Kandhamal district.

Sources said that the parents need permission from the State government for their return to Odisha from AIIMS New Delhi.

As both Jaga and Kalia have recovered from their post-surgery complications, the parents, who are away from their village for one and six months, now want to return home.

They want Jaga and Kalia to be shifted to the SCB Medical & Hospital in Cuttack or AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further treatment.

Worth mentioning, both Jaga and Kalia are undergoing treatment at country’s premier medical institution in New Delhi following their successful surgery.

In a recent report to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), the AIIMS said that Jaga and Kalia are clinically fit for discharge from the hospital.

However, the discharge date is yet to be finalised.

The craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors after a 21-hour-long surgery in October last year. The historic surgery had created a new chapter in Indian medical science.
