Pari murder case: Accused Saroj Sethi moves Orissa HC against POCSO court’s verdict

Cuttack/Nayagarh: Saroj Sethi, the accused in much-debated minor girl Pari’s rape and murder, moved Orissa High Court in Cuttack today through his legal counsel by challenging the verdict of Nayagarh Additional District and Sessions Judge and Special POCSO court earlier pronounced on February 6.

“We moved the High Court seeking justice,” accused Saroj’s counsel Manas Chand expressed.

Worth mentioning, the special children court previously sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine on the convict. In the case of non-payment of the fine amount, Saroj will undergo an additional imprisonment of one year, the court had ordered.

During a detailed probe, scientific, electronic, and circumstantial evidence were collected. There was no eyewitness of the crime and as many as 31 persons were examined during the hearing of the case. A total of 135 exhibits and 18 material objects used in the crime were submitted before the trial court.

“We are not satisfied with this verdict. We will move Orissa High Court and challenge the verdict. My client is innocent and he has no connection with the crime in any way,” Saroj’s lawyer had said earlier.
