Pari murder case: SIT picks up Saroj Sethy, his mother and sister

Nayagarh: Two days after one Saroj Sethy, a college student, from Jadupur village in Nayagarh district accused IPS Officer Arun Bothra of offering him Rs 5 lakh to take blame for 5-year-old Pari’s murder, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) today picked him up along with two of his family members from the village for interrogation.

The investigating team are interrogating Sethy, his mother and sister at an undisclosed place in connection with the abduction and murder case.

On Thursday, Saroj alleged that Arun Bothra, who is heading SIT, had offered him Rs 5 lakh to take blame for Pari’s murder before the SIT.

The startling revelation came a day after the SIT submitted an affidavit in the Orissa High Court (HC) revealing that the 5-year-old girl was sexually assaulted before being killed.

Claiming that he has been falsely implicated in the case, Sethy alleged, “The SIT members collected my blood and swab samples as well as my clothes from our house. Arun Bothra offered me Rs 5 lakh to take the blame for the Pari murder. Even though I am above 18 years, the SIT Chief assured me of reducing the age to claim that I am a juvenile so that quantum of punishment can be relaxed.”
