Pari murder: Fresh petition seeking polygraph test filed in Odisha HC

Cuttack: The Bharatiya Vikas Parishad today filed a fresh miscellaneous petition in the Orissa High Court in connection with the sexual assault and murder of 5-year-old girl Pari at Jadupur village in Nayagarh district.

The petitioner sought for conduct of polygraph test of the persons named in the FIR by the deceased’s parents and bring them under the purview of investigation. The deceased girl’s parents had on November 24 attempted self-immolation outside the Odisha Legislative Assembly demanding justice for their daughter. Alleging police inaction in the case, the couple accused minister Arun Kumar Sahoo of shielding accused Babuli Nayak.

The child had gone missing while playing in front of her house on July 14. Later on July 23, her decomposed body was found packed in a sack behind the house at a bush near a pond.

The Bharatiya Vikas Parishad had initially moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the case and compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the deceased’s family.

Probing the case, the Arun Bothra-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Odisha Crime Branch had arrested one Saroj Sethy of Jadupur village for allegedly sexually assaulting and murdering the girl.
