Partially burnt body of woman found inside house in Odisha’s Kalahandi; family alleges murder
Junagarh: A middle-aged widow was found dead inside her house under mysterious circumstances at Chicheiguda village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi, today morning. However, the woman’s brother alleged that she has been murdered by somebody for reasons not known yet.
The deceased woman was identified as 45-year-old Padmavati Meher, who was staying alone.
Padmavati’s lone son used to reside in Hyderabad and work there. A miscreant set her on fire yesterday night leading to her untimely death. It is a case of planned murder as the house was seen locked from the outside. The murder is the fallout of a family feud, the victim’s brother Balaram said.
On being informed, a scientific team and local police reached the spot and initiated a probe. Police have seized Padmavati’s body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
The actual reason behind the death has not been ascertained yet, a senior policeman expressed.
“Cause of death can be confirmed only after a post-mortem report comes in,” the cop added.
