Pathak DA case: Odisha Vigilance traces more bank deposits in BBSR, Pune

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have detected Rs 1.47 crore more in the bank accounts of Akash Kumar Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak. The two have already been arrested by the agency on charges of amassing assets worth crores disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Further deposits of Rs 1.47 crore by accounts transfers and clearings have been unearthed in the bank accounts of Akash Kumar Pathak in Bhubaneswar and Pune. With this, the total amount of deposits traced in his 3 bank accounts increased to Rs 17.52 crore, the Vigilance said.

Besides, the specimen handwritings of Abhay Kant Pathak and Akash Kumar Pathak have been collected for examination and comparison during investigation. Scrutiny of CCTV footage and seized documents is underway, the agency added.

The Vigilance has already referred the matter related to the recovery of deposits from bank accounts of Akash Kumar Pathak to Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate for probe.
