Patkura Fight: Political parties gear up for last-minute efforts to woo voters

Kendrapara: With just two days left for the ‘prestige battle’ in Patkura of Kendrapara Parliamentary Constituency, all the three political parties-BJD, BJP and Congress-have rolled up their sleeves to woo voters on the last day of campaigning for the election today.

Though the election is expected to witness a neck-to-neck fight between BJD candidate Sabitri Agarwalla, wife of Late Bed Prakash Agarwalla and BJP heavyweight Bijoy Mohapatra, Congress is also hopeful of winning the seat taking advantage of the two-corner fight.

The three candidates- Agarwalla, Mohapatra and Jayanta Mohanty of Congress- are making last-minute efforts to garner voters’support. The trio is visiting door-to-door with folded hands to appeal the people vote for them.

Yesterday, Naveen Patnaik assured the people in Patkura to personally look after the constituency and appealed them to vote for his party candidate. Recently, BJP heavyweights, including Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi and newly elected MP Aparajita Sarangi visited Patkura to campaign for party candidate Bijoy Mohapatra.

Congress’ state president Niranjan Patnaik and senior leader Narasingha Mishra were also seen campaigning for candidate Jayanta Mohanty, who is contesting for second time.

Worth mentioning, while voting for Patkura polls will be held on July 20, counting of votes will take place on July 24.
