Patnagarh wedding gift blast: Odisha Crime Branch team grills groom’s parents

Balangir: Intensifying its probe into the sensational Patnagarh parcel bomb explosion in Bolangir district in which two persons including a newly-wed groom were killed and the bride sustained critical injuries, a special investigation team (SIT) of the Crime Branch today interrogated family members of the deceased groom.

Sources said the SIT interrogated deceased Soumya Sekhar’s parents Rabindra Sahu and Sanjukta for three hours at Patnagarh Kenduleaf Inspection Bungalow.

The SIT also grilled Sky King Courier company owner in this connection to extract any lead in the investigation.

Two days ago, the SIT had visited the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where deceased Soumya Sekhar Sahoo’s injured wife, Reema Sahoo, is undergoing treatment to interrogate her and other family members. The team also acquired the reports of polygraph and other tests conducted at the state forensic science laboratory by Bolangir police.

Notably, Reema Rani’s husband Soumya Sekhar and latter’s grandmother Jemamani were killed when a bomb wrapped as a wedding gift blasted while unwrapping on February 23, four days after the couple’s marriage.

Reema Rani, who had sustained 36 percent burn injuries in the blast, is currently undergoing treatment at the Plastic Surgery department of SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
