Pensions of construction workers hiked in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today hiked the monthly pensions of construction workers in the state.

The pensions of workers, registered with the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, have been hiked, said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a statement today.

The construction workers, who have crossed 60 years of age, will get monthly pensions of Rs 1,000 against the existing amount of Rs 500, added the CMO.

Similarly, the construction workers, who have crossed 80 years of age, will be paid Rs 1,200 as monthly pensions. The workers were earlier getting Rs 700 as pensions from the state government, it said.

The workers will be provided with the hiked pensions retrospectively from February this year, added the CMO.
