Pharmacist suspended for open-air treatment in Odisha hospital

Kendrapara: Two days after the incident of patients being treated under a tree on a hospital premises in Odisha was reported in the media, officials today directed the concerned authorities to place a pharmacist under suspension.

Director (Health Services) Dr Kailash Chandra Dash directed the Kendrapara CDMO to suspend the pharmacist posted at Babar Primary Health Centre in Gogua Panchayat under Mahakalpada block in the district for discharging his duties under a tree.

Dash has also sought an explanation from the concerned staff of the PHC and action taken report from him.

It may be recalled here that six patients were receiving intravenous fluids under a tree at the PHC as we had reported here.

The state of healthcare facility at the government-run hospitals depicts the sorry state of affairs across the state.
