Physical classes of Standard IX, XI students in Odisha suspended

Bhubaneswar: In view of upsurge in Covid cases, the Odisha government today decided to suspend teaching of Class IX and XI students at all schools including private ones in the State.

The School and Mass Education Department’s order comes into effect from April 8, 2021 and will remain in force till April 30, 2021.

Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, Satyabrata Sahu in a letter to the Directors and District Education Officers stated schools can take up online classes of Standard IX and XI students.

The students of these two classes residing in hostels and residential schools are allowed to go back home immediately, the letter read.

It further stated classes of Standard X and XII will continue as usal till April 25, 2021.

The Covid appropriate behavior like use of mask, maintaining social distancing norms and hand hygiene must be ensured for the Class X and XII students staying in hostels, the letter stated.
