Pics viral: Covid patients lying on floor in Odisha hospital

Baripada: Visuals of Covid patients lying nude near toilet and food plates lying scattered on a patient’s bed have gone viral on social media. Reportedly, these disturbing visuals were from the KIMS Covid hospital located at Bankishola in Baripada town.

A relative a patient admitted at the KIMS Covid hospital captured the visuals during a visit.
Even though the hospital authorities are yet to make a statement on authenticity of the visuals, locals have been questioning the Covid management in the district.

Nodal Officer of Mayurbhanj District Covid Hospital and ADMO NR Das feigned ignorance about such viral photos.

When contacted, the KIMS Covid hospital authorities were not available for comment.

Sources said Mayurbhanj District Collector Vineet Bhardwaj ordered an inquiry into the matter. Also, the district administration sought a report from the KIMS Covid hospital authorities.

Few days back, the Covid hospital hit the headlines after some relatives of patients alleged there had been shortage of oxygen at the hospital. There was also no helpdesk at the Covid hospital to provide information about the condition of patients. CCTVs installed at the hospital are yet to be made functional.

Working Vice Chairman of Bhanjasena, an outfit in the district, Rakesh Singh said the Covid management at the KIMS Covid hospital is in shambles as understood from the visuals. Time has come the district administration and the State government to act against the authorities of the Covid hospital, he added.
