Pipili bypoll: Cases of political violence rise; Minister’s vehicle damaged

Pipili: With few weeks remaining for the Pipili By-poll scheduled on April 17, political bickering and poll-related violence has become common scene in the Assembly constituency.

In the evening hours today, some miscreants damaged Minister Sushant Singh’s vehicle while he went to Delang to meet some injured party workers. Singh said some people attacked on his vehicle out of political grudges.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders moved the Chief Electoral Officer seeking his intervention into the alleged attack on their party members.

In his reaction, BJD stated the BJP’s complaint before the Chief Electoral Officer was nothing, but shedding crocodile tears.

BJD Spokesperson Lenin Mohanty alleged after sensing its debacle in the by-poll, the saffron party has engaged in poll violence.

Yesterday, some miscreants allegedly attacked BJP Mahila Morcha State Secretary Rashmirekha Das and Booth President Saroj Sethi. BJP in a statement said the ruling party workers today as well attacked the saffron party workers.

BJP State President Samir Mohanty visited two party workers at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar who were injured in the clash

Mohanty said the ruling party is creating fearful environment ahead of the by-poll. He, however, added people of the constituency understand the political gimmick and will give a fitting reply to the ruling party.
