Plus-II girl raped after being drugged in Balasore

Balasore: A Plus-II first year girl was allegedly raped by a youth after being drugged at Karanjabindha village under Khantapada police limits in the district. However, police have started investigation into the incident that took place on July 28.

Sources said when the minor girl was going to Gopalpur College, the accused identified as Kanhu Charan Jena of Digbhanra village managed to take her to his house, drugged her and later raped her several times.  After the incident came to the fore, a meeting was held in the village to settle the matter, but in vain.

Later, the girl lodged an FIR at the Khantapada police station, following which the cops registered a case in this regard and sent the girl for medical examination.

“I was on the way to college, when he gagged me with a handkerchief and took me to his house and raped me there.”

Jena, who is married and has two children, is absconding after the incident. Search is on to nab the accused, police said.
