PM announces ex-gratia for kin of Kotapad accident victims

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed in a severe road mishap in Kotpad area of Koraput district last night.

The PM also declared Rs 50,000 compensation for the critically-injured. The entire amount will be disbursed from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Earlier yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had expressed their grief over the road accident that claimed nine lives.

“My thoughts are with all those who have lost their dear ones in the tragic accident. I hope those injured recover at the earliest,” the PM had said.

Nine persons were killed while 15 others suffered injuries after a pickup van they were travelling in overturned near Sindhi Gaon in Kotpad block of Koraput district last night.

Hailing from Kulta village under Nagarnar police limits in Chhattisgarh, the people were returning from Kotpad after attending 10th day ritual of one of their relatives.
