Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wished the people of the state on the occasion of Utkala Dibasa.

“Greetings to the people of Odisha on statehood day. My best wishes to the state for a bright, prosperous and peaceful future,” Kovind tweeted.

“I extend my best wishes to the people of Odisha on the occasion of the celebration of Odisha Diwas. Odisha has a rich & glorious history & is well known for its cultural diversity & natural beauty. May the state & its people continue to prosper and thrive,” said Vice President Naidu.

Taking to Twitter, Modi praised the contribution of “brave and talented” people of Odisha in nation building.

“The people of Odisha are known for their nobility and simplicity. I pray to Lord Jagannath for fast development of the state,” Modi said in the tweet and concluded with “Jay Jagannath”.

Similarly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted Odisha people residing across the country and abroad. He paid homage to those personalities who had played major role in formation of separate state of Odisha.

Notably, Utkala Dibasa is celebrated every year to mark the formation of the then Orissa, now Odisha, state on a linguistic basis in 1936. The foundation day of Odisha is celebrated across the state on April 1 every year after it was carved out of the combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province in 1936.
