PM Modi, Odisha CM express grief over Koraput road mishap

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed grief over the fatal road mishap in Koraput district that took place last evening and claimed lives of at least nine persons.

“My thoughts are with all those who have lost their dear ones in the tragic accident. I hope those injured recover at the earliest,” the PM said.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in the road accident near Kotpad in Koraput district. My condolences are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured,” said Patnaik.

At least nine persons were killed when a pick-up van in which they were travelling overturned near Sindhi Gaon in Kotpad block of Koraput district. This apart, 15 persons were critically injured in the road mishap.

Hailing from Kulta village under Nagarnar police limits in Chhattisgarh, occupants of the ill-fated vehicle were returning from Kotpad after attending 10th day ritual of one of their relatives who died recently.
