PM Modi’s Odisha visit: Here’s changed schedule for Balangir programme

Bhubaneswar: Here’s disappointing news for people of Jharsuguda as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not arrive at the newly inaugurated Veer Surdendra Sai Aiport during his tour to Balangir scheduled on Jan 15.

The programme was changed at last minute on Saturday evening.

As per changed scheduled, instead of Jharsuguda, Modi will land at Raipur from where he will head for Balangir.

The entire district administration in Jharsuguda was prepared for PM Modi’s visit to Odisha. Amidst non-functioning of the VSS Airport, his visit to Balangir via Jharsuguda could have promoted the UDAN scheme.

However, the change in the schedule has brought a big disappointment for the people of Jharsuguda.

As per the previous schedule, Modi was to reach Jharsuguda airport on Jan 15 and proceed to Balangir in a chopper. He would have been the first VVIP to land at the VSS Airport just four months after dedicating the airport under UDAN scheme to the nation.

Worth mentioning, this will be Modi’s third visit to Odisha within three weeks. He is scheduled to attend a function in Balangir to flag off a series of projects worth Rs 1,545 crore.

On his first visit to Odisha on December 24, the Prime Minister launched Rs 14,500 crore worth projects in the State. During his second visit on January 5, he inaugurated projects worth Rs 4,500 crore.
