Poaching bid foiled, six elephant hunters arrested in Odisha

Keonjhar: Odisha forest officials foiled poaching bid late on Saturday night with arrest of six elephant hunters in Keonjhar district.

Among arrested persons, two were sharp shooters from Arunachal Pradesh.

Based on information, the forest officials of Keonjhar Forest Division conducted raid at the forest area near Nalapanga village under Sadar range and arrested the six elephant poachers.

The accused were caught red handed while laying trap with nylon ropes and preparing a trench to hunt the elephants on Saturday night.

All the six persons will be booked under various sections of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
