Paralakhemundi: A man was allegedly shot dead by his brother-in-law while they were poaching near Bhaliagani village under Mohana police limits in Odisha's Gajapati district, today.

The deceased was identified as Kailash Nayak. Police have detained accused Uday Nayak for questioning.

As per reports, several locals, including the two, had gone to a forest to hunt boar.

Kailash sustained injuries and died as a bullet released from Uday's gun hit him.

Police have recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Cops were trying to ascertain whether the death occurred to accidental firing, or it was a case of murder.
