Police bust bike theft gang in Odisha’s Kalahandi; arrest 4 persons, seize 6 motorcycles

Kesinga: In a major crackdown, a team of cops from Model police station today busted a bike theft gang following a raid carried out at different places in Kesinga town of Kalahandi district. Police have arrested four persons in this connection and seized six motorcycles.

The four arrested were identified as Ganesh Naik, Akash Naik, Shankar Khena and Kanhei Tandi, all from a locality under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits in the district.

According to sources, the police team was tipped off about the gang leading to the arrests.

The accused were forwarded to a local court later in the district, a senior police official said.

It is pertinent to mention, the Twin City Commissionerate Police had earlier arrested four members of a motorcycle lootera gang in Bhubaneswar and seized around 33 bikes from their possession.

Based on reliable information, the Capital police tracked them and arrested them in the city on July 31.

The gang used to loot motorcycles from different parks, malls, marketplaces and hospitals. After looting them, the gang changed documents and number plates of the vehicles, and in turn, sold them in Kandhamal.
