Police bust flesh trade racket during raid; mastermind, 8 workers including 3 customers detained

Balangir: In a crackdown, a flesh trade racket was busted today during raid on a palatial building at Sashtri Nagar locality under Town police limits in Balangir district.

The mastermind of the racket and eight sex workers including three customers have been detained by police in this connection for interrogation, which is underway, a senior official stated.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Town police led by SDPO Tofan Bagh conducted raid in the evening. Few of the workers are local girls and few others are from outside the State.

Town police have remained tight-lipped and are not divulging much detail about the raid.

Even to the extent, local mediapersons were not allowed to go inside the building premises.

Flesh trade has become rampant in the town over past few years, some locals expressed.

Who was operating the flesh trade racket and since how long the racket was operational have not been disclosed by the Town police yet. More details are still awaited.

It is pertinent to mention, a house near medical college in the town was raided earlier.
