Police bust inter-state Eragola gang, arrest 11 persons in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar today busted a notorious gang allegedly involved in snatching, robbery, and other crimes. Police have arrested 11 persons in this connection, Twin City Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda said in a presser held here.

Taking to its official ‘X’ handle, the Commissionerate Police wrote, “@cpbbsrctc cracks down on inter-state Eragola gang responsible for a spree of crimes including gold chain snatching, dicky breaking, car glass breaking, and cash bag snatching. 11 accused gang members have been arrested.”

According to the police source, Siba and Prasad are the main accused operating the gang. The two are history-sheeters and were very active in Odisha and outside. A special squad led by Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh launched a probe leading to the arrests and a huge cache of seizures.

Siba and Prasad are involved in at least 27 criminal cases, which are pending against them in different police stations. Police have recovered 17 gold chains, gold ornaments weighing around 25 grams, cash of Rs 2.25 lakh, 50 stolen mobile phones, and six stolen motorcycles from the possession of the gang. The arrested were forwarded to a local court later in the day.
