Maoist killed in exchange of fire with police in Odisha

Koraput, Apr 12:

A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces at Leleri forest on Koraput-Rayagada district border in Odisha this morning, informed Koraput SP Charan Singh Meena.

Some items used by the Maoists have been seized from the spot, the SP said.

Acting on an information of Intelligence department about presence of the red rebels in the area, the security forces had launched a combing operation during which the extremists fired at the former.

The jawans retaliated by firing back following which the Maoists ran helter-skelter.

A jawan was reportedly injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at Laxmipur hospital.
