Police, Maoists exchange fire in Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: An exchange of fire took place between security forces and Maoists near Manabhanga dam under Paikmal police limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district yesterday, informed Padampur SDPO Laxminarayan Panda today at a presser.

A joint team of the DVF and CRPF, while conducting combing operation in the area yesterday morning, spotted a group of 10-12 Maoists near the dam.

Though the security forces told the rebels to surrender, the latter opened fire at the team. During retaliation by the security forces, Maoist commander Ravindra and his associate suspectedly sustained injuries. The ultras later managed to escape.

As many as 16 bullets, a sharp knife, and several Maoist articles have been seized from the spot.
