Chhatrapur: To save a motorcyclist, a police patrolling vehicle met a rod mishap leaving five police personnel injured in Chhatrapur area of Ganjam district today. However, all the injured were rushed to Sub-Divisional Hospital here for treatment.

Reportedly, a gas tanker en-route to Jatni in Khordha from Visakhapatnam had overturned on NH-16 at Humuri Tampara here due to intense fog at around 5.30 AM today. The driver had suffered minor injuries. On receiving information,  five personnel reached the spot on a patrolling vehicle.

After finishing the rescue operation, the cops were on their way back, when a motorcyclist came in front of the vehicle. To save the man, the driver of the police van took a sudden turn later lost control, following which it overturned.

Fiver cops, including Sergeant Sanjay Barik suffered injuries and were rushed to Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Sergeant Sanjay Barik was again shifted to  SCB Medical College and Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
