Poll dispute: Odisha High Court issues notice to BJP MLA

Cuttack, July 17:

The Odisha High Court today served notice on Bibhuti Bhusan Harichandan, the BJP MLA from Chilika Assembly constituency, asking him to file his reply with the court within three weeks in the case filed by BJD’s losing candidate from the same constituency Raghunath Sahoo, who has alleged irregularities in the recently held Assembly elections.

The High Court has fixed August 12 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Earlier on July 15, the High Court had served similar notices on MLAs Subal Sahu, Naba Das (both Congress)and Anam Nayak (BJD) while hearing the writ petitions filed by two BJD leaders—former minister Prasanna Kumar Acharya and Kishore Mohanty—and Congress leader Dusmanta Nayak who had also alleged gross irregularities in the vote counting process.
