Poor network: Students climb trees for online classes in Odisha

Deogarh: In yet another instance of non-availability of mobile network in rural areas of Odisha when the Government is stressing on e-education during COVID-19 pandemic, students opt to climb trees and hills to attend online classes.

The incident was reported from Jualibhanga village, located around 10 km away from Tileibani Block Office in Deogarh district, where the Digital India scheme is yet to reach the human habitat.

As all the educational institutions are closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, the students of the district face immense inconveniences to continue their studies on virtual mode due to unavailability of internet and poor mobile signal.

With no option left, the students are bound to walk 2 kms to reach a place in search of mobile network and climb trees or hills putting their lives at risk for online classes.

The residents of the village have been demanding for improved mobile network for their children to avail e-education. However, the district administration is yet to meet their long-standing demand.
